From the archives, curtains for daughters bed

Today, from the archives. I feel like there needs to be some dramatic music and announcer saying it similar to a soap opera intro. Letting viewers know what happened last week, “Today from in the archives…..” It works and makes it sound really intriguing. Anyways, I am sharing Nora’s bed curtains. I shared them in March of last year.

Nora wanted a four poster bed, but her bed is in great shape and a new one was not happening. Sorry little one, I love ya and all. But, no new bed is happening. I did try and appease her by making these curtains and putting them in a four poster bed style from her ceiling. I had to sew the curtains because they are from floor to ceiling. I could not find curtains I wanted in this length. Well without paying a ton of money or selling my first born. Which would have defeated the whole purpose, since it was my first born who wanted these curtains.
This was part of a whole bedroom makeover. Nora wanted a desk, reading area and less toys in her room. You can see the whole room reveal here if you are interested. Lots of crafts and small projects went on to make this room happen. This room is brought you by the letters DIY.
Nora adores her curtain bed, and I am a little envious. Dale said no to pink curtains over our bed. It takes a real man to sleep under a pink curtain. I am not saying he is not a real man, just not pink kind of manly I guess. I have changed a few things in her room since then, and plan to add a little something special to the ceiling over her bed. It is on my to do list. You know the one, the one you add to but never check things off. I have one of those, do you too? The full tutorial of sewing and hanging the curtains is Here.
Have any of your kids made a request for their room that you could not do? Do your kids even care what their room looks like? Most important of all, would your husband sleep under pink curtains?

  1. So cute! I love this idea. Makes me wish I had a girl 🙂

    1. Thank you, I love decorating for my girl. But, my boy's bedroom is so fun too. I have not gotten to share it yet because their room is not done.

  2. I love this idea! I cant wait for my daughter to be old enough to do this to her bed!

    1. Thank you Nicole! It was fun to get my daughter's input on things.

  3. So cute! I just finished painting my daughters room very similar colors!

    1. I love this color combo, so fun and girly!

Oh, wow, I had a canopy bed but I would have LOVED curtains.

    1. Me too! It was always my dream to have curtains on my bed as a little girl. It seemed very regal and princess-like.

  5. GORGEOUS!!!!!! If I had a daughter I would totally do that!!!! xoxoxo

    1. Thank you Christine!

  6. I love what you did with those curtains for her bed. So girly & fun! My girls don't request much for their bedrooms but I think they'd love for it to have some sort of canopy overhead. I would've loved that as a kid 🙂

    1. It is girly and fun, luckily my girl is all about it! She never cared what was in her room, then she became obsessed and very opinionated.

  7. The ever-growing to do list… I can relate! We were just actually talking about changing our daughter's room up a little and I love the idea of adding a bit of whimsy with the curtains!

    1. Ugh, you too with the to do list? I know it will never get all done, but a girl can hope? That is a great description for the curtains, adding some whimsy, I love it Sarah!

  8. This is so adorable, my daughter would love it. We might need to do curtains for her bed in the future now that I see how cute it looks :).

    1. I am glad you like it and are inspired, it was really easy. Even easier if you don't sew the curtains. Good luck!

  9. I love what you did with the curtains! One of my girls would love this too, but we have these weird slanted ceilings and theres no way I could do this and keep my sanity in the process!

    1. Thank you! Slanted ceilings would make it difficult to do. A netting with a circular top could work, not the 4 poster bed thing. but a material being draped kind of feel. Always save your sanity!

Nora happens to be what my soon-to-arrive bundle of joy is named! 🙂 I love these bed curtains… what little girl wouldn't??? And such a great way to make her feel like she has a new bed even if it still is her old one!

    1. Nora is a wonderful name! Your name is Emily, so is mine. So we will both be Emily's with Nora's as their daughters. That is crazy! What are you picking as a middle name for her? My daughter's is Jean. Her name is still not very popular, has not met another Nora yet. I adore it, and get compliments on it all the time. Congrats on your soon to arrive little girl!

  11. We're just about to redecorate my 6 year old daughter's room, I'm not sure whether I should show her this or not! Would be something else she'd be desperate to get 🙂 Such a great idea, and it looks lovely too!

    1. How fun! Working together on her room was so fun for me and my daughter. This was pretty simple to do, more so if you purchase curtains instead of make them. Have fun in your decorating!

This is so pretty and perfect for a little girls room! My daughter, at eight years old, is still very much obsessed with pink and hello Kitty. She would love something like this. Hmmm…now you've got me thinking.

    1. Thank you, it is great for a girls room!

  13. These are so cute! I love the idea! My daughters would love this!

    1. Thank you!

  14. What a great idea.. We're currently looking for a "big girl" bed for our little girl, she's turning 4 in July. We're thinking something on the lines of Sofia or Frozen, so very girlie. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Those sound like fun ideas for a almost 4 year old little girl, it is fun to make the room fit their budding personality!

  15. This is so cute. I always wanted something like this as a young girl, and I think you did a wonderful job here!

    1. Thank you, I would have loved to have something like this growing up too!

    1. Thank you, enjoy your little one!

  17. I love her curtains around her bed, it looks beautiful. I don't think my husband would go for pink in our bedroom! I also have a HUGE list that never gets marked off!

    1. Thank you, those men and their refusal to sleep under pink…..
