Dollar store challenge time. I know I just did one last week, but I have a lot of content to get through this month with fall projects. There have been some questions on what the dollar store challenge is. The rules are, I only use things purchased from the dollar store. I can spend more then a dollar at the store, but only from a dollar store. Then I can also use anything already at my home, paint, twine, picture frames, whatever. Simple rules. The goal is to get anyone thinking about what can be done for little money. Most people assume to have a beautifully decorated home it costs money. That is not the case, so this is giving examples of just how little money is needed to add something to your home.
This week it is pumpkins! I purchased this group of pumpkins, all 6 were a set for $1. I could have used them just like this. But I wanted to make them look different. So I used some white spray paint I had and sprayed them. Really, really simple stuff. The spray paint went on really easily. I did two coats of it and was done.
I set them in these hurricanes that are always on my coffee table. There is acorns, rocks, shells, whatever seems to work. Some of the pumpkins had a little orange still showing. Instead of covering it up with another coat of paint I kind of liked this idea. So I let the small amounts of orange shine through.
This was a really easy way for me to add some fall decor to these hurricanes. And with them being painted white, it makes it feel fresh. Light and naturals are seeming to be quite popular this fall season. I hope to have my fall house tour this week for you all. Both Dale and I were sick this weekend with a cold. We are feeling better, but it knocked us out with no en energy. I am 80% back to normal and can now finish the small projects left to get this home looking camera ready.
