I love my home in fall, the decorations are so cozy. The warmer tones added to my home create that feeling of comfort. I shared my big time fall home tour, but just a few new additions in my sun room can make the home feel ready for the season without being overdone. These are my Simple fall decor ideas, with the help of Gordmans.

Before I get into my simple updates I wanted to highlight a great promotion that Gordmans has going on in support of Veterans day. Gordmans is supporting Operation Homefront on Veterans Day by providing guests with the opportunity to give back to those who protect our nation. On Friday, November 11, they are inviting shoppers to visit a Gordmans store and join in donating to Operation Homefront, which helps provide wounded veterans and military families with food assistance, rent payments, utilities, home repairs and other everyday essentials. Shoppers will have the opportunity to donate to Operation Homefront at the checkout counter on Veterans Day. Gordmans will match guest donations up to $10,000. Gordmans is also offering all active duty, reserves, guard, retirees and veterans a $10 Gordmans Savings Card with any in-store purchase on Veterans Day, Friday, November 11. In addition, they will receive 15% off their entire purchase Nov. 11-Nov. 13. The 15% discount is on top of Gordmans’ everyday value of 60% off department store prices on merchandise. Those who wish to receive the Savings Card and discount are invited to show their military ID or to shop in uniform. I have a lot of military members in my family as well as friends who are on active duty. This is a great way to give back and shop!
Alright, let’s talk simple fall home decor now! I fell in love with the simple and pretty fake flowers, but wanted to display them a little different from the standard vase set-up. I wrapped the stems in twine and then tied it with a cute polka dotted ribbon. Because I have a lot of taller items on the old spool I like the flowers to be laying down flat to give a great difference in heights and a new focal point.
The subtle gold in this geometric pillow is great for fall without being over the top with it’s fall theme. I like to decorate for the season, but in more simple ways. I mean, we all adore the bright colors of fall, but there is something classic about a more muted color palette for this season. I warmed up this bench even more with a blanket crocheted from my Aunt and a few other pillows I already had in my home. I rotate pillows around here. The mix of gray and gold feels really good to me right now.
I have gone back and forth on painting this bench, I was soooo close to painting it bright turquoise. However having it be the natural wood color makes this space work for all seasons. This alone brings out a great fall feel without being too much. The best advice I can give for decorating for each season is to use what you have. Make them blend together and your home will feel cohesive and festive.
Pumpkins! Add pumpkins in smaller areas like inside this lantern and it becomes an easy fall decor item.
With Gordmans fall harvest items the complete feel to them is rustic. Which I am all about! I have managed to decorate my home for fall with a ton of natural elements.
This cozy space is in the sun room and used a lot by my kids. It needs to be a no-fuss area with decor. Also very cozy, if Dale or I sit here we get piled on by at least one child and one dog. I went big with the fall look in the rest of my home, you can see the fall home tour here. In this sun room I kept it more simple, there is always chaos in this room with it being off of the kitchen and by my kids art table. The gold and gray colors mixed with wood tones really adds a calming effect to this space. Yet it still feels very much like a warm fall season seating area.
With fall decor, the cozier the better. Leave out plush blankets, cozy pillows, and some great natural wood elements. That is the easiest way to decorate for fall.
I still have a few weeks to enjoy this wonderful season, we have been having such beautiful days here. It is cooler in the 50’s or so, with the clear blue skies. It is cold enough for sweaters but not freezing. Once I get the kids off to school I come back to this cozy spot and drink my coffee. Starting my day off slow and comfortable, with a view of the bright red and yellow leaves of the trees. There is something about fall that feels like a great time to slow down and take it all in. The quietness of the season overwhelms you in a wonderful way.
If you are like me and decorate for each season and holiday, having some simple fall decor ideas is key in keeping my sanity and staying on budget. My home can go through whiplash at times with the constant changing of seasonal decor. But fall sticks around for a while around here. I adore this season with the great activities and cooler weather. This is the first season that takes my home from casual and coastal in summer with its gray tones into a season of warm colors and cozy spots!
