No sew complete chair reupholster, Homedit contributing article

before-and-after-no-sew-reuphoulster-chair

Hi everyone! How was your weekend? We had a really busy one, so busy I did not even get around to recapping it. I do have a lot of sneak peeks, teasers and things to share with you all. Which I will do later in the week. Today I am sharing a no sew complete chair reupholster at Homedit.

It was a personal goal of mine to do it with no sewing. For a few reasons, one being I cannot sew. That is kind of a deal breaker. The other being. like me many cannot sew. They may see these great chairs, with great bones but not like the fabric. I wanted others to see that the complete no sew can be done. I have done smaller no sew chair redo’s. This was my first huge, full transformation one.

It was a lot of trial and error. More error really. I had to walk away for a few days, avoid it, ignore it, shoot if dirty looks from across the room. I was determined to do it, and did. The hardest part was the curved side, and the fact that I could not find one example of a full no sew reupholster. This was me, alone, just trying things. The worst that could have happened was it did not look good. Well, really the worst that could have happened was I cut the fabric too much, wrong cuts, not enough, or something just as terrifying to where I single handily sabotaged the project and chair. Also having to tell the owner of Homedit that I cannot do this project. I answer to him when it comes to Homedit.
I did it thought, sure there is a few spots that make me cringe. This example is more of proof that it can be done instead of showing my skills. I have no chair reupholster skills, I need a lot more practice. Now, it is out there. When people Google No sew chair reupholster they will find this. Say “eh”, about my chair. But realize it can be done and they will give it a go. Saving and making pretty one more old chair. There is a full, in depth tutorial, lots of steps and pictures at Homedit.
Have you ever done a project, you were wanting to do just to see if you could? Have you done a chair reupholster before? Teach me all you know, any tips, tricks, magical spells to do this?

This looks beautiful, love the fabric with the different one on the back. That is so fun. I have done smaller reupholster things. Chairs cushions mostly. Because I cannot sew I always assumed that a arm chair reupholster was out of the question for me and my skills. Once again you have taught me something new. I am always impressed with what you do.

    1. Thank you! I have seen chairs with a more vibrant and textured pattern on the back and wanted to give it a try. I made a few mistakes and things I would like to improve on with this chair, but it is exciting to have done it no sew. Good luck on your next no sew project!

  2. I love the fabric you chose, and it came out so amazing! I'd love that chair in my house!

    1. Thank you so much Justine!

  3. This looks awesome! What a cool chair! I love the back of it!

    1. Thank you!

  4. Now I know who to call when my furniture needs re-upholstered. Lol. it is so difficult to find someone these days. Great job.

    1. Thank you, I am no where near a pro with chair reupholsters. I still say go with a professional, or give it a try yourself like I did!

  5. great job! looks fantastic!

    1. Thank you!

  6. When you said "no sew" I had to pop over and take a look. It looks gorgeous, but personally I would use the same mustard colour fabric simply because I love that colour! 🙂

    1. Thank you! I am happy you popped over 🙂 . The fabric and chair would not have been bad. But it had stains and a odor to it. So I needed to get rid of the fabric and cushions.

  7. wow! That chair is so beautiful!

    1. Thank you!

  8. This is awesome! I am definitely not a sewer, either! I don’t even own a sewing machine, or even a little sewing kit. I leave that to my sister and mother in law. Ha! This chair came out great and I love the design you went with! Gorgeous!!

    1. Thank you! i don;t own a sewing machine either, we borrowed my Mother in laws to make out curtains. And when I said "we" I meant my husband. He sewed our curtains. I was so excited to do this chair no sew, so that I could actually do it without any help!

  9. That chair is so pretty! I love the mustard color but I love how you refinished it. Pretty!

    1. Thank you! The original color was fine, but the fabric had a lot of stains on it and it had a distinct odor to it. I found out once taking it apart that the cushion and stuffing had stains on it too. It all had to go.

  10. You had me at No… Hahahah
I love it!!! I think it turned out lovely! I love the fabric 🙂
I am a no sew fo sho!
This is right up my alley!
The best I've done so far is a reupholstered square ottoman :)))

    1. Ha ha, I am right there with you on the NO SEW part of this too. I feel like I missed an opportunity with the "no sew fo sho!" I will have to remember that 🙂

  11. This looks amazing! I need to make one of these!

    1. Thank you! It was a lot of steps but none of them were difficult. This was a little time consuming.
