the perfect piece of furniture

We all have it, that one piece of furniture that is a complete necessity in the room. A couch, chair, maybe a table. It is needed so much for the room to be done and livable we bit the bullet and put in whatever we had. This in my house is my coffee table.

Did I say coffee table? I meant dinner table for 4 that we cut down to size to go in my big living room. I like the size of it but that is about it. the color, style, feel, look all of it, not what I want. But here is my problem. I don’t know what I want there. I have not seen it. But I have for sure seen what I don’t want in the space. Yeah, I know makes perfect sense, I don’t know what I want but I know what I don’t.

I imagine something slightly rustic, different, but a bit formal. It is the first room you walk into so I want it to look pretty. But my kids climb all over the coffee table, sit on it to watch TV (yeah weirdos, there is a whole couch but whatever), we put food on it during parties, feet are always on it. See my conundrum? There is not even a dream coffee table that I love but am willing to spend that kind of money on. Nothing that seems just right. Will I ever find it? I am sure you all know what I am talking about and staring at your just not right but works for now piece of furniture. I hope I will one day be stalking craigslist or at a flea market and just see something and I will know… there… it… is! My coffee table, it is perfect. Well except for the horrible paint, the busted leg, it will need to be cut down to size. (lets be real, perfect is in the finishing’s) But I will get there one day. For now my out of place coffee table serves its purpose, currently my feet’s resting place.
